I’m going to be honest, Santorum’s jump in the polls is kind of freaking me out. Are people just not aware of how much of a lunatic he is? The whole separation of church and state is completely lost on him. He’s against birth control. Yeah, AGAINST any kind of contraception. He believes that sex is simply for making babies—no wonder he’s so uptight. Here’s how he thinks about contraception, “a license to do things in a sexual realm that is counter to how things are supposed to be.”

This quote, “Satan has his sights on the United States of America!,” came from Santorum during an interview in 2008. It blows my mind that, as a country, we would consider letting someone who has thoughts like this (and says them out loud), run our country.

When I was about ten years old my older sister’s boyfriend (at the time) got me into heavy metal. Megadeth quickly became one of my favorites. One of the first albums I got on my own was Countdown to Extinction. I told myself that Dave Mustaine (the singer) got kicked out of Metallica because he was too metal and not because he was a crazy, drug addict. The other day Mustaine came out to endorse republican-presidential candidate Rick Santorum. Maybe it was the crack he smoked with Slash? Or the speedballs? I’d really prefer that musicians I loved as a kid not endorse homophobic, anti-birth-control, sexist, racist, religious-extremist presidential candidates.

This drawing is a play on the album, The World Needs a Hero. It’s not one of their good ones.

Conservative author Matthew Vadum thinks that registering the poor to vote “is like handing out burglary tools to criminals.” At first I thought this was from the Onion—but nope this is real. At the rate we are going the poor may as well not vote anyway…. or the other 98% of us. Let’s just keep giving tax cuts to the wealthiest 2%. What do we call them? Oh right, the “job creators.” That seems to be working out pretty well.

Who is this guy?

Chris Piascik is a New England artist, graphic designer, and illustrator. With 8 years of professional experience at award-winning firms in New England, he is currently working as a freelance designer and illustrator, and just presented his 6th solo exhibition. He holds degrees in Visual Communication Design and Art History from the Hartford Art School at the University of Hartford, where he has moonlighted as an instructor of design courses. In 2008, the American Institute of Graphic Arts selected his poster design as a winning entry for its Get Out the Vote campaign. His other recognitions include Gold Awards, Silver Awards, Excellence Awards, Judges Award and the Spirit of Creativity Award from the Connecticut Art Director’s Club as well as a BoNE award from the AIGA. In addition his work has been published in numerous books and publications including Print and Communication Arts, the Logo Lounge series, Typography Essentials and Lettering, Beyond Computer Graphics and Bike Art: Bicycles in Art Around the World. Previous clients include: Chronicle Books, Nike, Goodbyn, Mayer Hawthorne, Odyssey, Gnarls Barkley, Monolith Music Festival, Eat Boston, and Theaterworks.
